Default well, also looking at 02 and 03 c240's

Okay, I heard that in terms of the c240, the 2001 models have the most problems... so I'm looking at 2002 and 2003 c240's. Can anyone let me now what model-specific things to look for when buying one of these used? They are all under, if not slightly over, 50K miles.

thanx...

Default RE: should have thought harder...

I have a 2002 C240 whichI bought new. This car came with a comprehensive 4 year 50,000 mile warranty, which included oil changes. This car is a 6-speed sport version, which is probably a little unusual. If I were buying one of these cars today I would look for a car like mine that has all of its service records. What you would see is that the engine mounts were replaced. Having new engine mounts is a must! I hada couple ofwindows lifts replaced and the master slave cylinder for the clutch.

Since the warranty has expired I had a brake job and oil change. Otherwise, it runs great although is somewhat anemic off the line. It is very good on the highway.

Check the car when the engine is idling. You should be unaware that the engine is running. If you sense and vibration or shake then the mounts needs replacement.

Check all of the power windows.

Make sure that the car has had regular A & B maintenance on the appropriate time/mileage schedule.

Check the engine compartment an make sure that no plastic is broken or out of place. The engine should be clean. Get a car with good matching rubber, preferably Michelin tires.
