Question Turn Signal Combination Switch PLEASE HELP

I have printed one of the DIY stickies on this procedure. I consider myself pretty good with this type of thing but I've hit a snag. The item in the picture that I am trying to remove is the steering angle sensor I believe. I'm gently prying on this to remove it. It doesn't want to come off. My question is am I doing something wrong here or do I just need to be more forceful. I don't want to break it that's for sure. Please help me.

I have service manuals on steering column and steering column switches for 96 c280 if that would be of any help.. could email
