Trunk not opening!

Trunk not opening!
Went to unlock my trunk today ('01 C240) and was unable to get it opened. All I get is strange sound when using the remote, interior switch, or the outside latch. Anyone experience anything similiar?

Had something similar on Volkswagen. Fortunately it was wagon and I could get behind the panels to push the lock manually.
Darn clip come off the push-rod.
Did you try to open it with key?
good luck

have you tried the key? - I had a smiliar problem last month, my flat mate 'valet locked' the boot (trunk) by manually using the key and turning the lock to the left. I couldn't get it open until I tried the key and turned it to the right.
I have a 94 c280, perhaps the lock is different?

RE: Trunk not opening!
Thanks for the reply. I was finally able to use the key to get it open. I removed the trunk lining and was able to pull out the latch mechanism. A piece from one of the white plastic gears fell out while I was taking it apart. A plastic gear, that about sums up the quality of this car in a nutshell. I have seen more durable parts on children's toys made in Taiwan.
I don't think this will be a DIY project after all. The lock mechanism would be easy to replace, however, not sure if I can figure out the cable and release mechanism. Thanks ALL for the help. I'm kind of wishing for my BMW back.

RE: Trunk not opening!
There is a simple solution to this, just pull the latch and turn the key clockwise AT THE SAME TIME and the stuck lock will open. Do not force open the lock or dismantle it. After that, squirt in some WD-40. It is quite common for the lock mechanism to jam up after some time.
