battery /trunk not opening problem.
Hi all, and please help on my dilemma:
the battery on my c220 96 mercedes is dead. i have purchased a new one but am not able to replace since the battery is in the trunk and only have 1 key that used to open all the door including the trunk when the battery had power. The key i have is not opening the trunk because the battery is flat, i can't open the trunk to replace the battery. i tried opening the trunk from the back seat but there is absolutely no way to do this,
Does anyone here know how i should go about opening the trunk/or busting the batt just for enough power to unlock the trunk so i can put my new batt in?
please help.

A lot of Benz owners do not know this, but there should be a mechanical key, or a key blade inside your remote key. You know the loop on your remote key that you put the key ring through to attach it onto your set of keys?, thats the end of the mechanical key blade. Move the small tab next to the key ring loop and this mechanical key blade should slide out. Then simply put it into the lock on the trunk and turn it (may require some WD40)
If you can't do this then the next step is to do what ontmiss says above. If you can't get under the hood to do this, then put power to the 13mm nut on the back of the alternator, this will also supply power to the vehicle.

Nope, you are wrong. The mechanical key is also for emergency door and trunk opening.
Insert the key blade into the lock cylinder of the trunk and turn it to the right. Whilst keeping the blade turned press the lock cylinder in and the trunk lid will pop open.
I have been a Benz tech for 10 years now and have done this hundereds of times! Every Benz does this.

Correct, this is on a 203 body C-class, and it will still work without the battery, go and try it! When you turn the mechanical key to the emergency position it moves a little plastic lever inside the lock, so when you pull the handle instaed of it just pressing in the microswitch it acts on the lever and opens the lock! The poster has a 202 body C-class which doesn't have a handle like yours, it has a push-in lock cylinder.
