Tranny issue

Tranny issue
When in park or nuetral, the tranny makes a loud knocking noise, when in reverese or drive it stops... once in motion it starts up again for the first two gears, once it's in third it stops, but makes a whinding noise. any idea what it could be? if i'ma need another tranny? or just have it rebuilt... i' new to the family so a little guidence would be appreciated.

I need more information about your car before I say my respose about your tranny.
What yr and model, how many mileage, when was the last time you cahnge your AT Fliud. any major work/service done?

Hey jt I got your PM and I didnt get a chance to reply bec. I was out of townlast wkend.
I suggest to ask your Service adviser at MB if those tranny (as you stated above) will fit your car per your VIN just to be at the safe side. Hope this helps.
