Default Tire longevity

My 2004 C230 Sport sedan has 17k miles. The rear tires (Continentals) are worn nearly to the warning indicators. The front tires are much better. The car is not driven hard at all. How many miles have others gotten on their tires? Thanks

it's not only on mileage, but also depending on road conditions and driving style.

42,000 miles out of H rated Continental ContiTouring OE that came with the car. Rotated every 5000-7500 miles.
23,000 miles out of H 225/50HR16 (oversized) rated Kumho Ecsta 711 from Tire Rack. I do not recommend those.
Now 5000 on my H rated 225/50HR16 Dunlops. See my other posts for Dunlop pricing and details from Tirerack.

Wow...you got 23k on the Kumhos? I will never buy another Kumho tire again. Had a set on the previous car and they wore out in 12k miles and started making a roaring noise like a B-52 under my car. HORRIBLE. Never again. It seems the rears on the C230K are prone to wear, especially the right rear on my car. It wears at about twice the rate of the left rear. And no, not for the reason you might be thinking!
Now I have BFG's and they seem to be wearing much better than the factory Michelin Pilots.

Just to add another viewpoint, I am on my second set of Kuhmo 711's on my Mazda Miata and it it a fantastic tire match for that car! On these Kuhmos the car handles fantastic and they are $55 each in 15" - who cares how long they last at that price.

I also replaced the OE Goodyear Integritys on my wifes Honda Pilot with Kumho SUV tires and they are MUCH better than the OE Goodyears.

Of course neither of these vehicles are luxury sedans like the C230. The Michelins Pilots that came with my '06 C230 Sport seem to be very nice tires although I doubt I will cough up the dough for another set when they wear out.

Default Tire longevity - Info???

My 2005 C230 Sport Sedan came with Continental Contisport-2 tires and at 21K, my rear tires are already worn out and need replaced. The front one's are in an OK shape but would probably need replaced within another 5K. I'll probably switch to an All-Season radial tires such as Prelli Nero M+S if I have to install new tires... My question to everyone is, what are MB lease policy? Since I am leasing the car and the lease period ends in 9 months before I have to turn the car back in, am I obligated to install new tires before I turn the car back in? I've looked through my lease contract and I haven't been able to find any information on this. Does anyone have any idea?

My 05' C230 Sport sedan had the Conti Sport-2 tires. They needed replacing at 35k kms on the odometer. The car drives half the year with winter tires on in, so I would say the tires had 20,000kms at the most when the back ones were worn out past the indicators... The tires were so bald it looked like a drag race cars tire. My car was an auto and drove mostly by my gf who is paranoid about wreckless or fast driving, so I know they werent driven hard. I was pissed off, so I raised a stink with Continental, they gave me an order number that would cover half the cost to get new tires put on the back that I gave to my local dealership. They changed the rear tires... at half their cost. These tires can't be rotated because they are a different profile and width to the front ones. The car had about 47k kms when it was written off and the original front summer conti's had about 50% tread left on them, not bad at all... With these cars I found the front brakes and rear tires to wear quickly, but thats it, the front tires and rear brakes last longer than I expected.
