I have a very annoying rattle coming from the front edge of my sunroof on my 97 C230. It only rattles when the sunrood is completely closed, if I open it even a crack, the noise goes away. Has anyone else experienced this anomaly?

I replaced the interior sunroof panel cover last year with good success, is it possible that I unlatched something that is now rattling?

From you description, it could be something as simple a dried out rubber seal. In that case an application of a good rubber conditioner to the seals could solve it. However, the interior sun panel moves back too (if closed) when you open the sunroof, so it could be coming from it. As with any rattle, it takes patience and detective work.
