Spark plugs

So, I get my car back from the Stealership and they informed me that my "Check Engine" light came on as a result of a spark plug missing. The day prior my light came on and the car ran rough sooo I opened up the hood and thought is could be a "spark" problem so I pushed down on the spark plug caps and I made sure all hoses were connected firmly. I fired it back up and the problem went away but since the car is still under warranty I took it in to get it checked out. The Service advisor (are they commisioned paid?) said that I needed new plugs all the way around...and at only $450.00 what a bargan. Forget about the fact that they could not replicate the problem in the shop and it didnt happen to them when the took it out for a test drive. I guess I am a bit curious, if my plug was failing it would FAIL not fail intermitantly right? Also, I have driven it since this diagnosis and no problems (nock on wood). I must say that I live in North Texas and sometimes my GPS takes me on country bumpkin roads (of which I will NEVER drive my MBZ on again). I belive the rough gravely road caused the plugs to vibrage loose....ANY suggestions would be great. I just asked them to clear the code and give me my car back and if it happens again I will know what to do next. I just didnt feel right spending $450.00 on a guess.
