Default Reseting service counter!

Hey Fellas..
I have a 2000 C230k and I am having a hella of a time trying to reset the service counter in the dashboard.
I have tried the directions in the MB manual in the car ( turning the key and pressing the o button to no avail!)
I am negative 2200 miles and I am scared that it might affect the onboard computer in turn affecting the cars performance.
Thanks for all the imput,
Alex.

I have tried to reset the counter plenty of times according to the manual but no success.
I do not know what to do but see a tech. so he can reset it unless you got other ideas.

not sur eif 2000 c230k is the same as my 99 but here is how I do it.

1. in car with door shut
2. turn key to position 2 (you are in position 2 when the instument panel lights come on, if you turn any further you are cranking the starter)
3. tap the o button twice and observe the current FSS counter
4. within 3 seconds, turn the key to position 0, all the way to the left
5. press and hold the o button (do not release for the rest of the steps)
6. turn the key back to position 2
7. wait 10 seconds and you will hear a beep indicating it is reset and you can now release the o button
8. turn the key to position 0 and tap the o button twice to verify the FSS reset.

Hope this helps.

Interesting stuff. Is there a version of this procedure (or any other) that will work to reset the fss indicator on an '02 c230k hatchback (excuse me, coupe) with the steering wheel buttons? What's the "o button"?

thanks, the dealer wants $325 for an oil change to reset the thing!

on a 99' c class there's a 0 button next to the instrument panels.

i wonder why it costs $235 for an oil change. talk to them and tell them that u just want the oil change and nothing else. it should run u about $90

i have a 99' c280 and i got my oil change done 2 months ago at the dealership and that how much it costed me. FYI street garage would do the oild change for about 10 bucks less. but for the difference of $10, why not have the dealership who knows best to do the job?

if you bring your own oil, they will ask 30% for management fee.
