Default Reseting Service counter in odometer

Does anyone know if the service counter in the odometer can be reset outside the Mercedes dealership. I don't have my oil changes at the dealer for obvious reasons... $150 for an oil change? And all I get is oil and a filter? Any suggestions? Thanks!

GT56E4,
The instructions for resetting the counter are in the owners manual.
Try following these five steps.

The counter can also be set by an individual. To do so:

1. Turn key in steering lock to position
(2)

2. Within 4 seconds press button (1)
twice

3. The present staus for day or distance is displayed. Within 10 seconds turn key in steering lock to position 0

4. Press and hold button (1), while turning key in steering lock to position 2 again. The present status for days or distance is displayed once more. Continue to hold button (1)

5. Release button (1)

FYI, button (1) is on the left. The one you use to reset the odometer.
I have read in other forums that it sometimes takes several attempts to reset the counter, usually due to timing of pressing/releasing button (1), and/or turning the key.

Hope this helps,

Dave
