radio/cd display problem

radio/cd display problem
Over the pas 8 months I have watched my 1996 C280 radio/cassette/CD display gradually get darker and darker as the LCD appeared to leak a dark blue chemical. I can no longer read any of the information on the display since it is now practically covered with this dark blue liquid. Everything works just fine. it's just that I can't read anything. Can anyone tell me what's wrong and if it can be repaired without having to replace the entire radio? Thanks in advance.
