it happened 6 months ago and stopped using it since...now I want to fix the problem.... specific suggestions anyone??
when I turn it on, the dash doesn't even tell Me it's on P ( parking ) anymore... It drives...but only on 1 gear.... repair shop suggeseted new shifting device for $550 plus $200 installation...is that about right??
money saving suggestions appreciated.

High probability that the Shifter (ESM) is the problem. Also, check the front passenger footwell under the carpet and under metal plate with 3 plastic 10mm nuts for the transmission control unit. These are prone to oil contamination. Oil creeps up the trans wire harness inside the wiring and floods the computer. Common problem
