new 2001 c240 owner...kinda
well, im new to this site and mbs for that matter...this is the first car ive ever bought w/out researching it first but i bought it for $21,000.00(too much i descovered)with 60,000 miles on the clock and about 60 miles from the dealer and passed someone and the automatic transmission kicked down and everything seemed fine but i then realized the check engine light was on so i pulled over and the car was missing very bad almost to the point of sputtering out and dying. i turned the car off and cranked it again and the car seemed to run fine but the light was, of course, still on so i took it back to the dealership the next day and they took it to the local mercedes benz dealer for service...that was friday and i prolly wont get it back for a while...luckily, i had a 30 day warranty from the dealer i bought the car from but could not afford the $4000.00 extended 3 or 4 yr warranty that would make my payment go up $140.00(whish i could) ....my wife and i are about to have a second child and feel like we have royally screwed up buying this car in an attempt to have a nicer vehicle for the new baby...but anyway, has anyone had this problem i've had? i read one thread where a guy had similar problems and the result was not good(weak valve springs) can anyone give me some words of encouragement?...i traded in my leased 2004 subaru impreza WRX that i bought new and ran perfect for this.
The wife and i were talking today and figured out that what thay did on the price is roll in some negaive equity from our trade into the price of the car instead of giving us more for our trade ...so we really got the car for 18,000.00 and then they added in the money we were upside down on out trade into it. ...so that explains the price but i still am not sure what is wrong with the car or if i ultimately made a bad decision going with this year/model mb.
