Default need radio replacement help

I have a 94 c280 I took out my becker head unit and put in a pioneer. I hooked up all the speaker wires and power to new head unit but I get no sound?[X(] I figured out what wires were what by using a guy named k6jrf's web site. Is there a amp or something blocking the output to speakers. Anyone who has replaced there factory head unit themself your comments would be greatly appreciated...

yes there is a factory amp in the trunk on the left side. you need to go through the amp to get sound. Using any preamp outputs would be ideal, and if you dont, dont turn up the new head unit too loud or you could fry your speakers. I just did the same thing on my '94 C280 and am persuing bybassing the amp.

This is the problem with factory pre-amp'd systems. They are a pain to deal with especially trying to mate them with aftermarket head units. It would have been ldeal to look for a wire harness adaptor kit. THis would have eliminated cutting but if they do not make an application for your year then it would be easier to bypass all together. The aftermarket unit will not have enough power to run the speakers by itself so get yourself a good 4-5 channel amp that will power the entire system.
