Default More power

I have a 2006 C230 Sport Sedan. I have had alot of problems with this car. I am really not happy with how the car drives. It doesn't have the power that I want. The car doesn't shift as well as I think it should. It shifts hard in lower gears. I was thinking of trading it for a C280 or C350. Would I have more power if I trade for one of these cars?

Theres your problem you bought the wrong year of c230 you should have bought a 04 or 05 becuase those years were the last years that mercedes made that model with a kompressor.

I have a brand new one too and so far I haven't had a single problem. I love the car. It is fun, comfortable, and very good looking. I still have my 2000 convertible Mustang and this car is more fun than that. I guess if you really want a faster car, I wouldn't even look at Mercedes unless you plan on spending some serious $$$. The new Chargers, Mustangs, and Nissan Zs are great cars and much cheaper than a Benz. --Just keeping it real.

What kind of power are you expecting from C230?
If you need just little extra, consider ECU tuning.
If you mean mid 200s of hp, then C350 is the way to go.
If you need more, then C32/C55 will be enough.
For trade-ins, test drive both C280 and C350 so you feel the HP.

I think the problem is a diappointment with how the car drives. The shifting is really bad in the car and very jerky. I spoke to the dealer about this yesterday. He basically told me that is the way Mercedes has designed the cars and even with a more expensive model the shifting would be the same. He was very honest but I don't think Mercedes would like him representing their cars like this. He told me if I had an 05 model I wouldn't have the problem. I love the look of the car but I hate the way it drives.

Hi Amyrose,

I'm in the UK and have a 2001 C320 v6.

Before I took the plunge to a MB I test drove several, CLK 230 Kompressor (supercharged) CLK 320, C230 Komp... and the C320... For overall power, performance, and fuel efficiency I settled on th C320.

The only way I would move is to a C350 (3.5 motor) or a C32 AMG (supercharged version of my current).

I think the 4 cylinder is a little strained, the v6 sings gracefully.

With reference to shifting, mine is smooth and almost transparent, and it now has 118,000 miles under its belt and is as strong as ever.

Make the move, you'll not regret it. Best of Luck.
