Max Speed Warning Indicator

I just purchased a 2006 C200 and I live in Dubai. Every time the car reaches 120kph, the message panel on the dash indicates that I have "Exceeded Maximum Speed - 120kph" and nothing else can be adjusted (cruise control, radio, etc.) from the steering wheel controls. In addition, there is a very LOUD audible BEEP that continues to sound. (Weird though: I can set the cruise control to 140 or more and it holds - it just beeps like crazy above 120kph...)
I know that 120 is the max limit - but traffic on major highways regularly moves at 130 - 140kph safely.
Is there any way to disable this warning message - or at least - cut out the annoying beeping???
Thanks much! Tom

that's odd. I've got a C230 and I've never gotten that warning - even past the 160 KPH mark. (Maybe it's only on non-US cars?) This link may help: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=412614
