I am considering purchasing a 1999 C-Class with very low mileage - about 35,000 total miles, for around$10,000 or so. I have two questions:

1. Is a car considered 'old' because of age, or miles? In other words, even though a 1999 car is 9 years old, since it only has 35,000 miles on it, is it considered relatively new in terms of repair and maintenance costs? Or does the car 'age' over the years, even though it is hardly driven.

2. What would my anticipated repair and maintenance costs be for this car overthe nextfive years if I drive 12,000 miles per year? I love the idea of paying only $10,000 or so a car of this caliber, but I have absolutely noclue how much it will cost me in regard to repair and maintenance over the next five years.

That is very low for a 1999. If anything it will be old in the sense of technology and looks but it's what you like not what everyone else likes. I think the only thing I may be concerned about would be the electronics and moldings (seals).
