Hi I have 2002 C240 , the LCD panel where we have display coming for the menu options and odomenter etc ... it gets faded sometimes. I am noticing it gets bit faded only when my car is standing out there is sun for hours ... (temp outside 90-95 F), in winters I never have this problem.

Like the alphabets on the LCD display are not solid orange in color, they like blacking orange in color, not complete alphabet, some lines of the alphabet are blackish.

Is it a problem ? Something major ?I am afraid it will vanish of and leave me with big bucks to spend ...

Any one have same problem ?

 

I have had this same issue with my 2001 passat (which is just sold today to make room for a C230). It happens to the red LCD screen on the info station. I did some research and understand that although it is not "normal" it is also not a problem. It has something to do with the red or orange LCD's being overly heat sensitive. If it does not come back when the car is cool, then you have a problem. Mine did this since it was new.
