search recent posts for my take on K&N's.
I have one in my '05 C230K and there are advantages and "disadvantages", if you want
to call them that. More like minor inconveniences with cleaning very seldom, but.......some
people don't want to ever do that, and some don't mind. Me, I don't mind. They go a LONG
time before you need to go through the cleaning and re-oiling.

Well.........there are two answers to that question. I say that because it has been my experience that people who buy
K&N filters tend to exaggerate the benefits when it comes to performance & mileage. As one who buys them mostly
for the benefit of not having to replace the stock air filter periodically, and not for the horsepower gain however big or
small it might be on any particular car or any mileage increase, I can tell you that on my car I could not tell the difference
in performance and the mileage was helped only because the filter was a better flowing and cleaner source of air to the
engine. If you took off a dirty stock filter and put on a K&N and said your mileage improved.....well.....there you go. The
other answer would be it gave me a ton of horsepower and lots of MPG. Which it didn't. And it won't. If it did, there would
be something else going on as well. Now, I'm not saying these filters don't "work". They do. And on some cars, better than
on others. Cars with an air filter restriction gain the most, obviously. Basic laws of induction.
