Default Intermittent Beeping when Unlocking

Hi, I have a problem with my w202. It happened a year or so ago and then just went away. But it is back.

The problem is that when I unlock the car, using either the remote fob or the key in the door, the car beeps. A high pitched beep that is longer than a typical announce unlocking beep. It is about 2 seconds long. Not really a problem except it continues to beep every 10 seconds or so. The beeping continues if I relock the car, if I start the car, if I drive away. The only thing that stops the beeping is to use the alarm button on the remote (the red button on the end that sets off the wailing personal safety alarm). I just turn it on and then off, and no beeping after that. This is really obnoxious, especially when I have to leave work or am around people I know, to have to set off the alarm just to stop the beeping.

Any ideas on what it could be?

The problem you are describing sounds that you have a faulty siren. I had a problem with the siren, but mine was acting when the weather was cold, but the act of the siren sounds the same to me. I got mine fixed at the dealer, I think that is the only place one could fix the alarm and siren issues with a newer MB.
Cost was about USD$400. Dont let them charge you on diagnostics either.

Thanks
