How hard to tune up yourself-1999 c280
I was inquiring to find out how hard it is to tune up the car mysef? I sent it to a shop ,but for plugs ,air filter, and fuel filter , they want 750 dollars. I'm not looking at the car since it is in the shop so I thought I would inquire on the web. I have found Oem part at a very reasonable price but didn't know the diffuculty of the plug change ,etc. Any replies would be appreciated. Also any location for a 1999 c280 service manual would also be a help.

To change the plugs, you will need a special wrench for the coil packs, there are no coils distributors etc.
The coil pack contain the plugs, they are plastc and extremly expenisve to replace. You will also need to R&R the intake assemble on the passenger side to get to the coil packs. Each cylinder has 2 spark plugs by the way. The air filter is a no brainer it's and snap off cover R&R the filter and snap cover back on. The fuel filter I think, someone correct me if I am wrong, is located under the car right side, I gues this is relatively easy once U find it. The only service manual I've heard of is sold in the UK. No in the USA. you could by the CD for $400 or so. You will probably goint to het a email from someone in R.I. who monitors this board. I asked the same question a while back and this person emailed me and offered to sell the CD to me for $200. I go by the old saying "Trust No One." So I assume this person is selling a burnt copy of the CD. Which probably cost the person $1.00 or so to burnt for the original, illegal to burnt and sell. Anyway, The biggest job is the plugs and requires skill. I won't touch anything under the hood except the filter and fluids.
