Resetting Service A on a 2006 c230
Posted 06-19-2009 at 10:04 PM by tadosan
After reading some of the interesting ideas & suggestions posted by other people on this thread, I decided to try to re-set the Service A message that has been showing on my car for the last few months.

Here is what I did. Please keep in mind that I had to fiddle with it for about 10 minutes before it actually worked.

I sat in the car closed the door & turned the key to the last position, just before the starter is engaged.
using the scroll buttons on the steering wheel, I selected the message "Service A in XXXX KM".

I then pressed the reset button on the instrument pannel.
A messaged showed up on the screen asking if I wanted to reset the service indicator message.
I pressed & held for several messages (10 -15 seconds), after which I heard a beep sound. I released the reset button.

After that the following message showed up on the screen a picture of a double wrench with the words "next service after 15000 KM".

That's all there is to it. I hope that this helps.
In addition to this info. prior to resetting the service message, I resetted the trip meter. This may or may not have helped with the resetting.

Good luck guys.

Smile resetting service indicator on E320

I found the procedure to reset the service indicator in the operators manual for my E Class.

1. switch ignition to on (do not start eng)
2. press up or down arrow on steering wheel until the service indicator appears
3. press the reset **** for 5 seconds (or so) until the service menu appears
4. select the CONFIRMATION on the menu with the plus or minus buttons on the steering wheel
5. press the (lower) folder/file button on the steering wheel.
6. the selection is CONFIRM
7. press the (lower) folder/file button on the steering wheel.
8. the selection is STANDARD OIL
9. press the (lower) folder/file button on the steering wheel.
10. The words SERVICE CONFIRMED appear
11. press (upper) file/folder button on the steering wheel

Thats it you're done!

Now go get your oil changed for a decent price somewhere else other than the expensive dealer.
