Hi Folks. Question about 2000 C220 CDi
Firstly hello and how is everyone.
I have just bought a 2000 C220 CDi with 108 K on it. The problem with the car is when you start it first thing in the morning and leave your foot off the accelerator the engine stutters down round the idle speed and seems as if the engine will die. If you rev it up and start off the motor runs find and when the engine is warm it doesnt do this.
The only other time it did it was one day when it was really damp and wet and when i stopped at a junction it started to stutter and shake but it never stops.
Has anyone any idea what this could be and how do i fix it? Apart from that the car seems to be running like a dream.
Mind you sometimes the ESP light on the dash flicks on. If you turn the car off and start it again it isnt on.
Apologies to bombard you with info in my first email but i always like to get straight down to business.

Sleepwalker can tell u the problem he just needs to know the vin so he knows which engine and model. Just giving the year and nomentclature on the trunk is not enough. Thats all
the software on your control module is faulty.
software should be 40/90 and up is okay. less than that, you need to replace the control unit.
read it from the ECU label.
if you replace your ECU, choose the one with 92KW instead of 75KW so you got more horsepower. (only if you wish).

First question. where is the ECU in this car. I took a look under the bonnet and it aint obvious. Is it besdie the tyre well in that back of the car????
Secondly is it possible to replace the software without replacing the whole ECU. Im sure about prices but i know ECU are dead expensive. And are ECu not sealed units anyway???
Any idea how much i should be paying to get thsi done??? What if i just ignore this problem as it only happens on start up in the mornings???
