Default Replacing Cabin Air Filter

Its time to replace the cabin air filter on my C320 Wagon. I see there is a paper filter under the hood on the left side that is simple to replace (5 minutes of install and purchased for about $11). I have also been told there is supposed to be an active charcoal filter (ACF) somewhere under the dash, possibly behind the glove box, that also needs to be replaced. Furthermore, I have been told that the ACF is about $110 +/- to purchase.

Is this correct? If so, exactly where would this ACF be located? Does anyone have a picture or installation chart, etc... that they can send me?

Thanks for your time and assistance,
Alan

Thanks Sleepwalker.

You have confirmed that there are two separate cabin air filters, one under the dash and one underneath the hood to the left of the firewall.

I appreciate you sending the diagram. How difficult is the removal/installation and are any special tools needed? Any tricks or headaches that you know from experience?

Regards,
Alan

I disagree on the difficultity. MAKE SURE TO NOTE HOW AND IN WHAT POSITION THE OLD FILTER COMES OUT. ON MY 99 280 IF YOU DON'T PUT IT BACK EXACLTY THE SAME WAY IT IS INSTALLED IT WON'T GO IN. There is only one way to get it in, as I said note the way it come out.

By the wat Sleepwaker does the 99 C280 have the dual filter system also? I find only one under th passenger side. didn't know there could be one under the hood?
