I've been hearing a lot of chatter about the quality of Mercedes of late and been having several problems with my 2000 C230. Only have 57K miles. Evaporator Core is going bad won't hold freon, control arm bushings are going bad, power seats not working, check engine light just came on for a fuel system pressure issue (most likely gas cap or fuel level sending unit), had to put entire rear brakes on due to pinched line which caused caliper to go bad.

I am concerned about the amount of maintenance and various issue that keep coming up. Vehicle was in mint condition when I purchased and only 43K miles.

Any encouragement or advice would be appreciated. I would like to do some of the work myself but I realize there is a lot that is complex and not possible.

 

Try fixing one thing at a time so you dont go broke. Sorry to hear about all those problems, but the fact is that you drive a mercedes, and you are respected for that, if you get anything else, well....anything else is just a dull car

 

Just find one thing to fix, anything at all, and you'll feel better about the car as a whole.

 

I vote you keep it. I recently gave mine away to my niece because it was such a great car. When I told my insurance agent the reason for cancellation of my policy he asked me what is with these cars, he has 11 other clients who have cancelled their 2000 C class due to giving it to a relative.

 

I gave it a good washing, waxing with some Mequires Gold and it made me feel a lot better already. She shines real purdy!

Taking it to the shop Saturday to look at the A/C and the Control Arm bushings and giving her a good tune up myself this weekend.
