Heat Guage Rising Above Mid-point
Hello Everyone,
I have a 1998 C230 and I am loving it everyday for its performance. One thing bothers me that I am yet to have a good answer to though. The Temperature guage rises way above the 50% level that I am used to in all my past and present non-mercedes cars. Does anyone know why it goes so high like that? A friend of mine just bought a ML500 truck months ago, he was freaked out seeing it going that high that he had to park for it to cool off a bit. He called me and I told him mine does that too. Yes, I have asked the dealer this question, but the person that handled my service made me feel like I should go back home and come back to ask the question in the language he would understand. Any thought on this folks?
Thanks.

That doesn't sound "normal" to me. Hot weather, cold weather, etc. mine always stays in exactly the same spot on the gauge.
So, if it were mine, I would have it checked by somebody to be sure it's not a thermostat issue or something else. Remember>
elevated readings on some cars doesn't necessarily mean the car is in a danger zone. It can, but not always. It can be a fan issue, a radiator cap, fluid level, thermostat, etc. or none of those. Depends on a lot of things.
