Merc. C230K for sale locally - SHOULD I BUY?
There's a C230K for sale locally around me. He's asking 10g for it. It's a 2000 with 50k miles on it. Brilliant Silver on Black. CD, Sunroof, Heated Seats. Good shape too. I'm going to have it inspected locally in a few days. I understand it's below KBB, so that's a plus.
The only things I'm worried about are maintenance down the road and fuel consumption...
Any suggestions, advice???
I'm still kinda new on this forum, but I love those cars. I'm just worried it's going to be a headace if something goes wrong. I don't know what I"m getting myself into, or if I really want it.
I don't KNOW enough about them to feel comfortable!

Most of the C-Class cars prior to 2001 have been good cars. Gas mileage about 22/28hwy. Not too bad.
I purchased a '99 C280 sport with 77K mi. a little more than a year ago. I now have 91K mi, and she runs great-no repairs, only maintaince costs. Personally, I couldn't be happier with the car.
What really makes these cars expensive to own is taking them to the dealership for parts and service. Find a good honest, independent garage that knows MB and while some parts are more than other cars, many are not.
Good luck.

KBB on the car is $12,000. He's asking $10,000 - and hasn't mentioned that is is 2k below blue book. Would asking $9k be low-balling him too much? (Trying to get at least $9500)?
