it replaces the older version which is ASD (automatic locking/skid differential).
if ABS holds the spinning wheel during braking, ETS holds the wheel during acceleration to maintain the vehicle steerability and stability.
try driving the car in black ice and you will feel the function. it's fun because the brake hydraulic system seems to be out of control.
