Hi Everyone,

New member here and I have a question, I have a 1994 W202 C220 with engine problems. I just spent $2800 having it serviced to include buying a nnew wire harness. I have been considering selling it but I happened to come across an ad for some one parting out a 1994 W202 C280 with a 65K mile motor. Having never done a swap on a Mercedes I would like to know if this is possible and if there are any "gotchas" that I need to be aware of.

The situation here is that it would be the same cost for the purchase of the 2.8 as it would be to repair the 2.2. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I guess the first question that comes to my mind is what kind of condition is the 2.8L in? If it needs expensive service as well, then you've bought the devil you don't know and he screwed you.
Thats my only comment. You need to hear form someone who's actually attempted and engine swap. ONe other thing. I'd like your idea a lot better if if the 2.8L your were considering came from a '98 forward C280. Less troubles with the all aluminum V6, and they cured that nasty wiring harnes prob. Come to think of it, I guess they solved that by '96.
