Does 1996 C220 have timing belt or timing chain?

after some years with mercedes-benz dealership, i've never heard of timing belt Junger.

your's is using timing chain.

 

Thanks... Will the timing chain last as long as the life of the engine or does it require replacement?

 

the timing chain also need to be replaced for it is elongated after a certain period of time.

this elongation could affect the timing gears (camshaft) and sharpen the cogs (teeth).

any deviation on the timing of about plus or minus 10 degrees calls for a replacement, or else you have to do it every 100,000 kilometers.

it is an easy job which takes 2 hours with the right special tools and trained mechanic.

 

96 has a timming chain but when we replace it with a new 1 it was 1 link to short donot know why ?
we had 2 new chain to check size both are 1 link to short ?
any way we place 1 more link in it now seems ok but very hard to doo
any1 can tell us wert we can check it or how to do it right details
we also replace water pump as it started to leak also repllace all hose
