Default Dealer vs Indepenent for Sched Maint

My C320 is displaying on the dash that I have 5,798/31,422 miles and servicing is indicated in 200 miles. The last time I had at the MB dealer for sched maint, I was told the next one would be at my expense, despite the extended warr I bought at the time of purchase. Am I obligated to go back the to the MB dealer in 200 miles for servicing to preserve my extended warr or can I go to an independent MB serivce ctr and not jeopardize my extended warr?

I would find the copy of the extended warranty and read the fine print to see if the warranty allows you to go elsewhere for maintenance, as long as it is documented. It should say something in the warranty. Normally, with most warranties, factory or otherwise, you can get the scheduled maintenance done anywhere you want provided it is documented and you can show that the work was done. Some shops have trouble resetting the service indicators, so make sure and ask about that wherever you take it. Or you can post here and somebody with your car can tell you how to do it yourself if the shop can't.

Mr C,

Thanks for the good sound advice.

Surprisingly, the MB dealer is only about $25-30 > than a recommended independent for the Service A maint interval, so I might as well stick w/ the dealer.
