Coating on MB Brake Rotors

Coating on MB Brake Rotors

Why are MB rotors coated with gray paint. Should it be removed before mounting them or just left on?

you can take it off but its just wax to protect from rust. use a razor to remove it but you can leave it on and it will just burn off.
