Check Engine Light On - Throttle Position Sensor

RE: Check Engine Light On - Throttle Position Sensor
My 99C280 (V6 2.8L) converts the mechanical throttle position to electrical output for the ME-SFI (main computer) via the B37 sensor. On my car, the B37 sensor is in the left rear of the eng compt and is attached to the end of the throttle cable (on top near the brake fluid reservoir). It looks easy (and clean) to replace.
The other component in the system (on my car) is the M16/1 (EA/CC/ISC actuator), which is located on the aft side of the engine on the intake manifold. It controls the opening and closing of the throttle valve. This actuator has 2 potentiometers inside (1 is a backup or reference). If only one potentiometer has failed you could get the check eng. msg w/out a sacrifice in performance.
Don't forget to disconnect elex connectors first and inspect for contacts that have been pushed back into the connector. Always use electrical contact spray cleaner that doesn't leave a residue and make sure that it is dry before reconnecting.
My best advice would be to log on to alldataDIY.com and purchase a one year membership ($25) to their online manual for YOUR car. You will not be disappointed.
