Changing front brakes
Hey fellas,
I plan on changing my front brakes. the rotors are not damaged but i wonder if it is nessesary to cut the rotors.
I have never changed ABS brakes, anything that should be done differently?
Any tips would be appreciated.
By the way, any type of pad that is preferable to use?
Thanks.

RE: Changing front brakes
I have been told by two MB guys not to turn the MB rotors. "They said" the MB rotors don't do well when turned. Now I am not saying this is fact, I am only relaying what I have been told. I replace mine everytime anyway just because that's what I do. Just thought I would let you know. I am sure someone will reply if this is a load of bull.

SOP is to measure the thickness of the rotor material and if still in factory spec, just throw on new pads. MB pads are relatively soft so they conform to rotors with small grooves. However, if the rotors are warped, heavily lipped at the edge or under spec- you should replace. That said, some folks replace the rotors every time they replace the pads.

RE: Changing front brakes
Changed the front and rear on my 1999 C230 Sport...not a problem. It's very simple but make sure you have all the parts before you start. You'll need the pads, replacement sensors, and anti-squel paste. I actually found a step-by-step with pictures for an E320 on the forum, the process and parts are exactly the same.
