Default Cd Changer

Hello everyone!

I am new here, and i have a problem!

I have a 2002 Mercedes C220 CDI with navi, and my original cd changer broke.
Now then, they say i have to buy the original mercedes one, but does anybody know if thats true,
or can i also buy one from another brand? and would it do the same job as before?

Thanx

Sleepwalker is correct, Mercedez uses fiber optic cable for the CD changers. You can buy them aftermarket, I did and it is a genuine MB changer for half the price the dealer will charge.

One other point I forgot to mention, I had trouble with the Cd player, sometimes I would get a No Changer on the radio head screen. It started happening more and more. I took it back to the audio dealer and they replaced the changer under warranty. About 2 months after that the radio went on the blink, I had to have a new one, no warranty almost $1000 even with a discount from Mercedes. Since then the CD changer hasn't failed. So, it might be the radio and not necessarily the CD changer. Have it checked first.
