C280-windshield wiper alignment

I think I may finally have the alignment fixed but the brass **** that fits in the rubber bushing jumps out of place when I re-install. Does it snap in place or meerly set inside the concave bushing?

normally they pop into place. must push it hard. use channel locks to squeeze the ball and bushing together.
