c280, with c36kit. should i buy?
Hi everyone, im new here and i would like to just ask a couple of questions.
My brothers flatmate is selling his 1995 c280 and im pretty keen on buying it. Its black, with the c36 amg bodykit and the 17" amg wheels. Its in really good nic, just hasnt been used in a while.
It has a couple of problems tho.. firstly he tells me that when its in 4th gear its slips a bit, and he thinks that the tranny will need to be replaced.
( I will want to get either the transmission overhauled or replaced, but is it possible to drive with it in 3rd gear at 100kmh? This would only be a temporary measure until i have the cash to replace the tranny, but surely those merc gearboxes are geared for high speed?)
The other problems are just small fries, needs new rotors on the back, and the headliner redonebut thats all good.
But just for a heads-up ive heard that the wiring looms in these cars seem to degrade and short out between the wires causing a whole mix of problems?
How much can you buy new looms for?
Cheers, and look forward to your response..

How much is he asking? How many miles are on it? From the sound of things it doesnt sound good. The headliner thats a easy fix and rotors are an easy fix but a transmision will set you back alot of money.

Personally I would stay away from the 1994-2000 C Class. I have had many issues with mine and to it doesnt feel like I am driving a Mercedes when I get in it considering the whole inside is all plastic and cheap looking.
