C 230 slow to accelerate
I purchased a 2006 C230 sport last week and while driving the car this week I have noticed that it is a bit slow to accelerate. The RPM’s goes up above 4000 rpm before it seems to shift gear’s up to around 3rd gear when pushed. Is a slower acceleration typical for this type of car or do I have a problem? Once the car gets up and going it is quite quick and it dose not take long to get up and going but it dose seem to hesitate to me. Thanks for any thoughts.

i had the same problem with my 2001 c240. i bought it about three weeks ago and i went to the mercedes dealer close to me because i did not like the car like that. when i told the guy what my problem was the first answer he gave me was:
the transmition has two options W and S. when you drive it in W the car starts at the second gear so it will have a harsh start and it will take longer to accelerate. when you run in in S the car will start in the first gear so it will be smoother to accelerate. but what the real problem with my car wa the "air mass meter". that thing metters how much air should go to the engine. i had to change it. now the car runs perfectly AS A MERCEDES
sorry for writing long

I feel your pain.
I have a 2007 C230 Sport. Exactly what you're saying is what I've been trying to look for to correct this imperfection; a performance mod. I don't know why they did this but I'm sure it's just how the car is tuned. Remember this is JUST a c230, I'm sure designed for everyone, including a retired 60 year old female who doesn't want to launch off the line. Next to the shifter (assuming it's an automatic) look to see if you have a button, there's sport mode, and comfort mode. Comfort mode starts the car off in second gear, and with a light foot won't go past 3500 RPMs. Sport starts the car off in 1st gear and even with a light foot will go higher in RPMs.

I drove the car on a short 3 hour trip on Saturday and it drove wonderfully but defiantly slow off the line. Has anyone tried something called the powerchip? Supposably it helps acceleration and I found it in a catalog called Performance Products -your Mercedes superstore. Dose it work and will effect the warrantee on the car? Any one have any ideas.
