Last night I herd from one of the guys that you can remove a chip from engine to make your E Class accelerate as soon as you push the gas pedal.
My question to you guys is it true and if it is than what is the down side

No such thing...........you can unplug the traction control and let the power all go to the ground at the expence of control if you are not an experienced driver.You can reset the tcu/ecu to factory specs which makes the transmission more responsive with higher shift points.But there is no chip to remove to make the car accelerate faster.There is a product called the sprint booster that claims to do it(pure snake oil)flooring the pedal does the same thing at a savings of 400 bucks.

Get in the car,close the door,turn the key to the on position,---not to run--- ,just to the position that all the lights come on,the reason for this will be obvious in a second!!!!!!!!!!Step all the way down to the floor on the gas pedal(reason why you do not want it running) and keep your foot floored,while keeping it to the floor,wait 15 seconds,still keeping it to the floor,turn the key to OFF.Now wait a few seconds and let your foot off the pedal.Now sit there for 2-3 minutes,and then exit the car.Please follow these instructions to the letter,some people have been known to not read the caveat about the engine not running and sit there with it floored and on the park position rev limiter and wonder why the engine shook and cut out at 4000 rpm.....
Also some cars that have been driven in a stately manner will go from very docile shift points back to the much firmer higher rpm factory settings,so use you foot accordingly.
some cars wake up more then others in response to the reset.
While you are waiting a few minutes to go for a drive,take that time to check your oil,examine your belt,look around and enjoy day.

OH yeah,leave the key in the ignition while you wait the 2-3 minutes after turning to off position,then you can take out the key and exit the car.............

Ohlord-

By doing the reset, will this dramatically change the gas consumption on the car? I guess what I'm looking for is just better response from the accelerator. I'm in no means a fast or aggressive driver, but I'd like better response when I'm ready to go. Should I follow this procedure? Or do you have any other suggestions? BTW I'm driving an 03 E320 w/33K miles.

It will only change the fuel consumption if you goose it more to have fun.Some members do the reset every few weeks because the tcu will program itself to the style of the driver.That is all it does it move the shift points and rpm's to a more responsive setting.It is up to your foot as to how the mpg is affected,drive it hard and it will respond and the settings will stay put,take it easy and the tcu will re adapt to the more sedate driving.

some cars really wake up so it is like a quick virtual tune up.
