Default Auto window/sunroof down via remote

Hey Guys, I am new to the boards so sorry if this post exists. I own a 2002 c230 coupe, in the owners manual it stated the key unlock if held down for 1 second can open the windows and sunroof, I cant get this to work. I dont think the batteries are low in the remotes because I can operate the lock/unlock 50 feet away form the car. Even if I am very close to the car and aim the remote right @ the door handle it still will not work. Is this a function the dealer needs to turn on in order for it to work. What am I doing wrong?

make sure that the windows and sunroof are all synchronized/initialized.

try opening all the windows and sunroof first.

the communication is via infrared and not frequency, so point it to the door handle.

press lock and keep on pressing for 5 seconds.

are you pointing the key to the infrared sensor? try it on the passenger side too to see if it could be a bad sensor on your drivers side door...

I agree with sleepwalker. Point at door handle sensor for at least 5 seconds. My car takes longer than that.
Twice the system hasn't worked. I used the manual key by holding it in the open position until the windows and sunroof opened. Then I closed them by holding the key in the closed position until they were all closed. After that the remote worked.

I think the previous poster who suggested a syncronization problem brought up a very likely cause. Maybe it is different with the W203s, but with other MBs the syncronization had to be done via the normal buttons for the windows and sunroof (as opposed to via the remote). The procedure should be explained in your owner's manual. I had to resynchronize after my battery was disconnected.
