I have a 'C' Class 220 auto. My problem is the loss of acceleration, ie, when i put my foot down it doesn't drop the gear and accelerate.

When I first set off it does't happen but then after a mile or so if I try it just increases speed slow but steady, however every now and then it will drop the gear and go.

Has anyone out there have any ideas.

Two years ago I had the same problem on my "C" class 230. Usual suspect is air mass meter and in my case it was. Part is very expensive but simple to replace. This is a DIY job.
