Default '99 C230 Kommpressor Sedan-P0170 Trouble Code

New Here...We bought this car used last year from the original owner...

24,000 in town miles-"Little Old Lady" story.

So yesterday my wife said the check engine light came on after driving 5-6
miles. I checked it while the car was still warm with an OBD scanner and came up with P0170 trouble code...(fuel trim-bank 1) The light doesn't stay on all the time,it seems to come on when the engine warms up and after it sits overnight, the light does not come back on.

The car runs fine and does not exhibit any other anomalies. The temps up here (N.E. New Jersey) have been getting down to the 20's and 30's if that has any bearing on this and she only drives the car 50-75 miles a week.

Any help in directing us to the root cause of this code?

Thanks!

Laura

Default Po170

P0 170 fuel trim bank 1 mean that up stream oxygen sensor need to be replaced. To make sure that problem is up stream oxygen sensor, erase code PO170 with OBD scanner and run a car at least 20 miles without any stop. Also, car computer run the test only if your fuel tank has between 1/3 to 3/4 of fuel.
If check engine light does not come on after 20 miles, it means that car computer fixed the problem.

Thank You platonmind!

We do not have a tech-service manual for this vehicle. Any chance You might give us a clue where the up-stream oxygen sensor might be located?

Thanks Again!
