Try this just for hoots. Disconnect the battery. Both terminals. Touch the cables together for about 20 seconds. Reconnect the battery. Take it for a test drive and accelerate as soon as you feel it's safe to do so to see if it still acts goofy.

If there's a shaman in your neighborhood, definitely consult him. Keep your clothes on, though.
About the battery, I was serious. Doing the disconnect/reconnect as described will reset the ECU to factory defaults. It's just like rebooting Windoze on your PC. If it's stuck in some goof mode with a bunch of bad data, this will clear it out. It may be clear for only a few miles before enough bad data has accumulated to recreate the problem again, hence I suggested accelerating as soon as you felt safe doing so.
This will tell you if software is causing your problem, although software may not be the problem. Yeah, okay, let me explain. The software may be working correctly but it may be getting bad data from a sensor and making unwise decisions based on that data, for example.
On the other hand, pay attention to sleepwalker. He's da man around here.

if intake, then it's just as simple as the sparkplugs!
if it is doing it while under load such as accelerating while on gear then it is the air mass sensor or it's wiring.
if it is none of those two, the software in your engine control unit is the problem. try restting the adaptation mixture and set the ignition to lower octane rating (93), and fuel enrichment to stage 1. or else, the control unit needs to go.
