Red and green lights located on rear view mirror flash intermittingly???? Suspect some sort of security system shut-out. We tried restarting the alarm system to no avail.

 

read the fault code.

check key battery.

New to the list.
I started having the same problem with my C280 last week. Went out to start it, red/green lights on rearview mirror were flashing intermittently. Called my personal wrench, after about an hour of futzing around with opening the doors, locking with the key, unlocking with the fob, locking the trunk unlocking ....... and on and on ..... finally got it to start. Drove it to a store about 6 miles away, wouldn't start. Locked it using the trunk lock, unlocked it, it started. Driving about 3-4 minutes at 45 mph ... car just dies and coasts to a stop, won't start. Red/green lights flashing intermittently. Towed it home.
Never had any kind of a problem with this car, first time. 79K miles.
Any ideas? Help.

 

not sure if its the same prob, but i recently had a similar situation, car started up in morning, after work, car would crank but not start. sometimes it wouldnt even crank. i had just brought it to a merc mechanic and had it put on computer to check vitals. all came back good. had my wife bring me the spare key and it started!! i shut it down and tried the old key and nothing!. used the spare and it started again. i did this abot 10 times to make sure and everytime i used the old key it wouldnt start, but it starts fine with the spare. your prob may be related to the remote. i even swapped batteries on the old remote,but prob still there. hope this helps

Joined the forum due to a similar non start problem.
my 98 230 Kompressor sometimes several attemts to fire after cranking.
Merc says it may be low battery, which is being checked, tho I suspect its positioning of key in the ignition slot. any other thoughts ?
