Default 94 C280

Hi,

I bought a 94 C280 yesterday but find that the gas pedal is not responsive. I need to step deep to make it move. This is okay on highways but it creates a problem for me in parking.

Is this something wrong with car?

Thanks a lot.

P.S. I am new to MB.

They act like that in "limp home" mode. Is the "CHECK ENGINE" light on? It may have been disabled by the previous owner.

If you have your radio security code, see if disconnecting and reconnecting the battery cables clears the problem. Disconnect both cables and wait a few seconds before reconnecting.

If it clears, it may just be temporary.

sometimes you have to distinguish the problem between the engine and transmission.

No "CHECK ENGINE" light is there. Everything on the dash board is normal.

To SLEEPWALKER, do you mean that this is a problem with the transmisson system?

something like slipping.

you said only by stepping more on the accelarator that the car will move.

antway, try adjusting your accelator linkage to the engine first.

sleepwalker, thanks for youre reply.

Is it possible to get the owner's manual online as the previous owner didn't leave anything. Also, what are the most common mechanical/electrical problems for a 10-year C-class MB?

Thanks.
