Default 2007 C230 Bluetooth Questions

Hello All. I just got my 2007 C230 and it has the buttons and setup for the audio system to use a mobile phone via bluetooth, but the dealer said that I would need to buy an extra accessory fopr it to work. I am a tech guy, but know almost nothing about Mercedes. I did a little research and I see some bluetooth thing but its like $500. What exactly do I need and where do I get it? I want to use the built-in mic and speakers for my existing smartphone with bluetooth, but I do not want to pay $400 for it. I have several other aftermarket handsfree sets, but I really need to use the one in the car if I can.

So does anyone know what I need, how to get it, and how to get it for a reasonable price?

Thanks in advance!!

YOU NEED TO USEA UHI BLUETOOTH PUCK THAT IS AVAILABLE AT YOUR LOCAL MB DEALER. BE CAREFUL OF WHAT PHONE YOU USE. MB SOFTWARE ONLY ENABLES ALL THE PHONE FUNCTIONS WITH CERTAIN PHONES. YOUR DEALER CAN PROVIDE YOU WITH A LIST.

What about the pre-wiring? I was told by another person that my car is not setup for the bluetooth handsfree.

All 2007 C class are pre-wire for bluetooth. I did one not too long ago.... I can't remember all the steps.. but I want to say it cost more than $500 for the kit. And to install you have to move some fiber optic wires around...

Check the trunk. If there is a phone module mounted behind the right side panel, then you already have the phone kit factory fitted. All you would need then, is a phone specific (MB) cradle or the MB Bluetooth interface.

If there isn't a phone module, but if you do have the phone wiring behind the panel - and wiring / connector in the armrest - then your car is pre-wired. In which case you will need a complete phone kit (phone module, cradle / BT interface etc).

If you don't find the phone parts, nor the wiring, then your car is NOT pre-wired for phone from factory - and no, not all 2007 C-classes are pre-wired for phone from factory. If yours isn't, either, then you will also need wiring, microphone and antenna to complete the phone kit.

If you aren't sure about the parts you may or may not find in your trunk, you can always ask your dealer to check your car's VIN in their EPC.

greetingz,

BigSis
