Default Need some Advice - Considering a 2004 C230

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and I need some help. I am considering trading in my SUV for a 2004 C230 Compressor (1.8 4cyl). Main reason for this is gas mileage. So I have a couple of questions I was hoping someone on the board could help me out.

16 gallon tank which here in MD will cost me about 65, on average how many miles do you get?

The reviews say the car gets 21 city and 28 highway. I drive a mix of both (city/hgwy) and I was hoping someone will be able to tell me real numbers for what they get.

Thanks!

I know many people with the W203. They all love them. They usually get around 25mpg on average.

My suggestions: consider a coupe, they're usually a few thousand less than the sedan. Also, consider the C320 with the V-6. I'm getting right around 25mpg without working at it.

My 2005 C230K can get 33.5 on the highway at a steady 65 mph.
In town, 26 is about right. All depends on how you drive. It makes a huge difference.

IMO stay away from those 4 cylinder Kompressor engines. Unless you have good warrenty with it. You'll have problems with oil in the engine harness, or carbon build up in the valves in worst cases you'll have to replace whole cylinder head and even whole engine.

Did I mention my C230K has 130,000 miles on it and no cylinder head replacement, oil in the engine harness, carbon build-up on the valves, etc? OK>maybe I'm lucky. Or not. We'll see. I'm goin' to 200,000 no matter what.

Happiness is an extended warranty.
Mine paid for itself when my supercharger died.
Ouch.
That would have been an expensive one.
It's obvious some people have great luck with the 1.8 230K and some don't.
Mine has been pretty good from the 65K mile mark up to now, at 131K.
