Help!!! I own a 2005 C230 which I purchased without the comand. I didn't think I would have a problem installing it after the fact. I purchased a unit from MBdoctor.com and it was a very easy install. My problem is that the 2005 C203 model doesn't come with a GPS Antenna if you don't have the Comand option. Prior to 2005 it was pre wired in all the c-classes.

I used an after market antenna mounted under my dash in the Factory recommended location (for retrofits) but it doesn't work well at all. The comand is lost 60+% of the time. (I also moved the antenna to several diferent locations. all bad)

I had a splitter made and ran a cable to the factory antenna before I knew it was just a cell phone antenna and well... needless to say that made it worse.

I was told by Sammy of MB Doctor that to install the factory GPS Antenna I would need to change out my rear window and the cost would be ridiculous. I already spent much more than if I had purchased the option at the time I bought the car. (But it is a very rare option in Hawaii so I could not get it at that time)

Dose anybody know of any options I should consider. I am willing to change out my rear window if that's all I can do, but a cheaper, effective solution would be preferred. Is there a glass mount antenna from another manufacturer I could use?

If I must use the factory antenna, could anybody tell me the parts list? I can't seem to get much help form the local Mercedes dealer here. They are the only ones in Hawaii and with no competition, they can get away with ignoring customers.

Thanks for the info. I called the # and they still could not help me. I think I have the problem solved now with the help of a great parts guys at Mercedes of Honolulu but I'm anticipating one more glitch. I'll post how it goes once I attempt the fix.
