I have a 2003 C230 (K). I keep getting a "Check left lowbeam headlight" message on the dash, and it then will go away. This driver's headlight will work intermittently, sometimes no problem, then other times it's out.

I pulled the bulb, and the connection at the bulb appears clean.

I'm wondering if it might be the switch, or something in the headlight assembly. I haven't seen anything to indicate there were any TSB's or recalls.

Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks!

 

Lat May,I had to have the passenger side "Headlight" socket changed since it started using too many bulbs and was exhibiting a burnt electrical smell. MB doesn't make a new socket or harness for the CL230 but miraculously a knowledgeable parts man realized that a headlight socket harness from an ML will fit perfectly.
Problem solved. It took an hour of shop time but I was getting the battery replaced anyway.
