2001 C240 Alignment Bolt Seized
While mounting a tire, I installed the alignment bolt finger tight. I put in 4 lug bolts and tried to remove the alignment bolt but it would not budge!
I removed the wheel and used PB Blaster and vice grips, hammering and it finally came out. But, it left the threads of the alignment bolt in the lug bolt hole.
I recovered from that by cleaning the log bolt and hole treads with tap and die. The aluminum threads in the steel lug bolt hole came out pretty easily.
My question is what happened? Why would the alignment bolt seize in the lug bolt hole?
Any answers?
Thanks,
John
